Port wine museum in Porto, Portugal
The song still remains which names the land over which it sings
Martin Heidegger | Poetry, Language, Thought | Why are poets for? p.95
Douro Valley with its canyons and cracks is defined by the vineyard and the rocks in each region’s soil, in turn, establishes the taste. Just as the landscape, the city of Porto due to its topography can be read as a series of cracks with its narrow streets and stairs.
Currently, the site is a concrete block along the riverside, used as an open-air parking lot. The project hits and breaks this block and fits the functions of a Port Wine Museum within the broken fragments.
The museum is a translation of the winemaking process into human sensorial experience in space. The museum is a translation of the winemaking process into human sensorial experience in space.
